On (L)ea(V)e, singles and dogs

The previous post is password protected coz it is being treated as a police case and so I think it shouldn’t be made public, except for those who used to be colleagues with me.

Regarding my office being broken into last nite, which you might have known if you had followed me on twitter.

Tmrw’s gonna be a busy day for me. Will be on half day leave to go see doctor and before that a blood test. Seems like I can only grab a light snack to have time to do it (actually thought to skip lunch but I might just faint after they take my blood if I dun eat  )

Then I’ll rush for a facial appointment which I brought forward from Thu coz I need to pick G up from the airport. He decided to return 2 days earlier!

Fully utilise my leave.

Just came to know from Cruz’s tweet that November 11 is also known as Singles Day

Like that also have?

And why do they eat youtiao (flour fritters)? Coz it’s 2 pcs bound together like number 11, and the binding is supposed to be something auspicious?

My guess only, but it’s got a point in there too, ain’t it?

If I happen to be right, does that mean that for it to become really auspicious, you shouldn’t tear apart the youtiao (if you happen to 应节 and eat one tomorrow) and instead should gobble the whole thing down?

Probably we should also start singing The Spice Gals’ song, Two Become One~~~

Oh, I think my LV bag should be in Singapore since last weekend. So probably I’ll be able to get it on Thu nite or Friday.

Woot woot woot! My first ever investment ever. A bit too late but better than never. :)

I think when Caramel and Cinnamon returns home, my dad would be so bored. My mum won’t need to cook dinner twice – one for dogs and one for humans (like us). They will miss the action at home, the barking, and their welcome at the door.

My dad will start repeating how clever and adorable they are, and then start missing them again. And both pooches might just not get used to not sleeping on the mattress anymore.

End of holiday and chalet soon.

Identity

Been reading how Huiwen and Joan lost (and found) their dogs very much recently, and I was glad I did the same thing to Caramel and Cinnamon a while ago.

Caramel is a dog that forgets his name when he sees grass, or see a lot of dogs to play with. Once he starts running very fast, I can forget about catching him. On the other hand, Cinnamon is one who was new to this name (she used to be called Yumi before for 6 years) so it might be possible that she might not respond to her ‘new’ name and get lost as a result.

So I did the best thing I thought should be done when I saw this during one of my polyclinic visits: a bullet-like capsule that holds details about their names, and contact numbers if anyone should get lost. In addition, there is also an O-ring that keeps the paper inside dry and waterproof.

Caramel

Cinnamon

Only thing is, if they ever get lost, I hope anyone who picks them up will know how to find their identity.

And just as I was writing this, Caramel’s identity tag came loose at one end and he started playing with it.

The troublesome little missy, and dinner @ Safra

Argh. My laptop battery is giving me problems again. Now I gotta stay connected to a power source else the laptop will shut down.

Brought Cinnamon for the first time to my mum’s office. As usual, she left a puddle of pee just right near to a wetsuit. Nice try. Thank goodness she didn’t think the suit was a pee pad.

And then I leashed her up. Since she couldn’t walk around, she thought she would find a comfortable place to lie down on.

Under the table in the middle of all the neoprene rolls.

Went for a wedding dinner at Safra Jurong last nite. Before this dinner, I didn’t even realise that there is one Safra near Jurong Point. But that place is packed. Carpark was full when I got there.

As usual, we Chinese have very bad time management when it comes to wedding dinners. Until 8.30pm before the dinner starts.

Nothing much memorable, just the restaurant staff as emcee, then the usual march in and montages.

It was very funny when they got to our table. I guessed we just wanted a simple cheer, but then it ended up the groom starting to shout Yum Seng then we follow suit at our table. Liddat also can?

The whole nite, it was conducted in Mandarin all the way. Didn’t really have anyone translating into English for non-Chinese people who attended the wedding. Except the speech done by the groom.

Slightly too noisy, coz both sides there were some functions going on and as you know, dividers can’t totally mute out the sounds.

It was just meant to be a dinner for their frens in Singapore.

Ermm…do I sound critical like that?

New kid on the block

Been a roller coaster week. Some downs which I would not want to remember.

Anyway, there’s a new kid on the block. Someone called Cinnamon too, but totally changed dog.

After the last ‘failed’ attempt, the rehomer who found Caramel for us found another chihuahua. 6 years, female. She had to be rehomed because the lady had another 2 CHHs and she had received complaints from others despite the 3 of them being quiet (like nobody’s home). And more surprisingly were the ones who complained, were from other blocks, and they even had dogs for their own.

Some people can just be so ‘nothing to do’.

G saw the dog and took a liking to her, coz she looked like his previous dog which died because she accidentally ate something poisonous while having a walk outside. And such was the connection that we immediately took the dog away on the same day.

Cinnamon refused to walk on the leash, probably coz she goes out in a bag and not walked (her paws are soft and smooth). But being a clever dog, she finally started walking now and even looks about for Caramel when she didn’t see him in front of her.

The next thing to train her is to pee outside like Caramel, instead of being paper trained. Then she can go up on the bed.

On the day she was brought home, she actually pee-ed on the bed after running around with Caramel. Probably thought it was an extra big pee pad. So no more until she starts easing herself outside.

Another thing to train, is to be able to walk up the stairs. Now she can only go up the last steps and not a whole flight. She would just sit on the steps when I leave her there.

Yes, she really has got a mind of her own. No, means no.

On the nite where she was left in the toilet with Caramel while we were out, she jailbroke the barrier and I guessed Caramel was very happy when he saw us coming home. Yes, he received us at the gate, which I wasn’t too surprised because I heard Caramel’s bell when we reached back. But as Cinnamon couldn’t go down the stairs, she was actually walking around the 2nd floor.

Photos up soon, once she is confirmed to be staying with Caramel. Right now she is still on probation and at the moment everything seems fine.

She’s one sweet looking lass.

BB Camera

Been ‘obssessing’ with the camera on my BB phone. And who else had been my model?

Caramel likes to lie down in front of me when I do things on my MacBook. And by chance I caught him red handed:

Not only did he refuse to move away, he even did this to me:

See? Dogs nowadays are getting techie too.

No more

If you have been following my twitter, you should have known this:

NO MORE

No, she’s still pretty much alive, thank goodness. Just some screw ups with her rescuer.

The rescuer, a friend of the rehomer, was trying to get a PERFECT HOME for Cinnamon. PERFECT means:

  • Someone must be around at home 24 hours
  • She must not be kept in the toilet at all
  • The rescuer can drop in anytime to check that the above is adhered to.

Almost like SPCA. I mean the 24 hour thing.

Apparently there were quite a few who wanted to adopt Cinnamon but all were not considered PERFECT enough for the rescuer. The rescuer can’t adopt Cinnamon coz he/she had quite a few dogs already and cannot handle another one. Yet because of the ‘NON PERFECT’ people around, the rehomer can’t let go of the dog coz the rescuer doesn’t allow.

It was a pity but we’ll treat it as no fate. Just a bit disappointed and sad that Cinnamon cannot be let go because of some stupid rule that people can’t adhere to easily. The one who helped us find Cinnamon (and Caramel) was also frustrated but there was nothing that she can do. She could see that we are good owners by seeing how Caramel had improved by leaps and bounds and character changed to be more outgoing.

Well, we’ll just keep all the love for Caramel now. Maybe a better one will come along.

Just hope that Cinnamon would be happy and stay healthy wherever she ends up at.

Tired out

The poor boy was tired out with all the hustle bustle, that he was all tired out and didn’t react as fast as he used to last nite.

Total conked out.

And he was still lethargic at 10+ in the morning.

Still curled up sleeping. I like the way he curls up like a ball coz he looked like just a ball of wool.

Just got news that Cinnamon is ready for collection, which we went to visit her earlier this week to see how she was (and amazingly changed dog coz she is overweight now due to the food she has been eating).

Now she got small head big body.

*All photos taken with BB Bold.

The day the dogs gathered to bully me

I must have used the most number of tissues and wet napkins this evening.

Went for steamboat dinner just now at AA’s place. His leg is still in a bad shape but slowly recovering. He had to keep sitting on a chair with his leg raised and moving around in that chair.

I had asked AA in advance before I brought Caramel over, and he did the most embarrassing thing ever.

He pee-ed to mark at his place. Which was unusual coz Caramel never did it at anyone’s place before. Not even at home. And he did it twice there.

Then he was behaving like that was his home. Walked around, kept trotting behind Sparkle (AA’s dog), then jumped up on the sofa. Sparkle wasn’t even allowed to jump up on the sofa. I caught Caramel doing that several times. He thought he was at my place.

I asked YX how big Chaser had become. I was a bit skeptical about the size he showed, but I thought maybe long time since I’ve met her so I might have overestimated how big she had become. And the latest photos on his FB also didn’t seem to be one gigantic dog to me.

HL went to fetch Milo. Then Caramel went berserk and kept going after (and licking) him. Milo then started to mark his place too. I was squatting near him and then he pee-ed some on my knee and culottes.

I asked AA why the dogs that came tonite liked to do marking at his place.

Then then then, YX brought Chaser. Holy shit, he was double what YX had showed me earlier on with his hands!

And she also became berserk. He kinda shifted the dining chair and the carpet around, plus provided some extra breeze to the guys while they played their Winning Eleven on TV.

Then she pounced on me, licking me on my face. She got me pinned onto the floor. I think the pimple that is coming out from my chin might just disappear with the way she had licked me.

I suspected Caramel might have picked up something (he was practically doing the vacuum cleaner thing the whole nite) and started puking on me when I was holding him to calm down. First puke was just white foam. Then 2nd time comes, part of his dinner came up at the same time.

Seriously, I won’t be surprised if it had also been his excitement and jumping about that might have contributed to his puking, and caused him some indigestion in his little tummy.

Hmm…wondering why all the dogs presented me with something tonite. Must be the Hush Puppies top and bottom I’m wearing tonite.

Early meeting, more Crocs and the homecoming…soon

This morning I had to wake up early supposedly to meet a customer who came from Durban. Was supposed to meet him in office yesterday afternoon but he was held up (and also too lazy to drop by away from town), so we met today instead.

The appointment was at 8.30am, but when I sms and called him at 8am and 8.15am respectively, no answer.

:(

Luckily I didn’t go out yet, but he finally called me at 8.30am and told me he has just woke up. So we ended up meeting at 10am.

I always have a habit to call before I go over to meet an overseas customer, coz usually of the time difference they might end up jet lagging and cannot wake up in time.

I asked what his programme for the day, and luckily he is same as me. He doesn’t really like to go lunch, dinner, whenever he is overseas. Prefer some me-time.

After the meeting I dropped by Bugis to get lunch. And I deserve a pat! Coz I didn’t do shopping, though I did go into Charles & Keith and Pedro to sneak a look at their shoes.

——–

I went by the Crocs sale yesterday again since I was to be at T3 to receive my sis and bro-in-law back home. Truly they were restocked and even extended their space a bit more. It was also good coz there was barely anyone there (except the crowd grew when I was looking thru what I could find again). and I got 2 more pairs. Even got a pair for my sis.

One to be used for my diving and the other, casual sandals.

Quite happy now. Hehe.

——–

So boring at work today. *yawn* Seems like people knows my mum is not around. Only 2 walk-ins in the morning and another to collect her clothes. Looks like it’s going to be going off earlier. Even Caramel looks lethargic now despite being like a mad dog in the morning. Sometimes I suspect he has a biological clock in him that tells him it’s Saturday. He will act mad in bed by running around early in the morning, like he’s crossing terrains and mountains.

On normal days, he will just act sian and refuse to acknowledge the fact that humans need to work and have to leave him alone at home. Don’t even look at you when you leave for work.

And I hope his gf will come soon. Apparently she went for spaying and the wound became unstitched. The temp rehomer claimed that the stitching was not done properly and the vet claimed that she bit off the stitches herself. So she’s got to be recuperating for another week…

I’ve already got her leash and collar ready. Looking forward to see her soon…

I spent my weekend sleeping even later

Damn tired man, the whole long weekend. No Bintan or cruise trip, but it was equally packed.

Went to watch the show Inglourious Basterds on Fri nite. Midnite. Ok, this show is not bad la, but some parts are quite draggy and such, and I nearly fell asleep a few times (some are sleeping around me coz I could hear them snoring, haha).

Since we went for bowling before that, we were already half-finishing the popcorn we bought before we even stepped into the theatre.

That Friday, I slept nearly at 5am.

The bowling kinda screwed my leg. I duno for what reason, my back part of the thigh started to ache after the game. Despite that, went for bowling again on Sat nite.

That did it. The whole thigh was in pain after the game.

Ironically I played better as the pain intensified.

Note to myself: never to go bowling anymore at Marina Square. The lanes are simply left alone to self destruction. Never maintained at all with all the worn out parts at the beginning of each lane.

That Saturday, I slept around 4am.

Sunday. Brought Caramel on his first trip to town. There was this Raya flea market happening at the carpark of SAM, so thought might as well bring him along. I got a bag too, in case he can’t walk in at certain grounds then I can put him in the bag.

Anyway, he was spared the agony of being in the bag coz the flea mart was an open air concept. Went there to find FT and WK who had a stall there. Was a small outfit, but because they had the stall right in front of the pathway, they got lots of traffic.

Wanted to get Caramel to stand in front of the SAM signboard and take a photo, which I thought would be quite cute. Then I was afraid that he might lift up his leg and pee against the signboard which was embedded in the midst of a grass patch. Wakakaa~

Better drop the idea before a sign says “no pets allowed” gets erected beside the signboard.

At nite, I went for my virgin prawning trip to Farmway 1. We thought initially to go fishing so we headed deeper in to the fishing place, but it was supposed to close at midnite (we were there nearly closing time). Went to ask the boss, whose face darkened coz at that time, someone caught a big fish. He grumpily replied that he was about to close. Kthxbai.

Went back to the prawing farm, toyed with the idea of doing the fish spa, then finally decided to keep to the plan of prawning. It was quite fun, except the time which the first prawn I caught nipped me on both hands when I tried to remove the hook from its mouth. I duno mah…first time i handled a prawn with the pincers still attached. But it was real painful. The next few times, I just stepped on its pincers and proceeded to remove the hook, before I went on to using tongs to hold them down before doing anything.

We overshot the 1-hour timing, but the guy was quite nice la. We gave him the prawns and wanted initially to return them to the pond, but he said once the prawns are caught, they will die if returned to the pond. Oh, no wonder I see one floating on top of the pond. So no choice.

That Sunday, I slept at nearly 5am again.

We needed the weekend for some good rest, but we ended up sleeping even later. :P

My favouritest photo for the moment

Awwwww….

Someone’s got a galfren~

Am using my sis laptop now. Not very used to it. But mine was sent to increase the HD space. After that I’ll be having more space and faster speed too. Yay.

Am watching the chinese version of  “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”. The one who had gone off just now…omg. Cannot stand him. Why so drama one har?

Oh ya, last nite went to see one female chihuahua. G wanted to find a fren for Caramel, and just the same moment he called the one who rehomed Caramel to us, she had a chihuahua on hand to rehome! What a coincidence!

The sad story behind her was that she was abandoned by a breeder who decided to close down. Her fur wasn’t that pretty, but one look I think it wouldn’t be a problem to bring back its healthy shine. And she wasn’t treated that nicely too before being abandoned. The dogs (there were a few others who were abandoned too) were fed a meal for 3 days, which was meant to be for 1. Which meant she was seriously underfed, despite the fact she was reared for breeding.

The moment we arrived at the place, Caramel dashed to play with her. Initially the owner’s 2 shnauzers rushed to Caramel, and barked and tried to attack him. All Caramel did was to lie down there and not move. Haha.

When they met, they started chasing each other. The female dog was really active and friendly. Couldn’t help liking her. For a moment, we became the trees in those Tamil movies, coz they were running around us.

So it’s decided. Caramel’s going to get a new galfren. :P   She’s 4 years old, will that be considered jie di lian?? Heh.

Duno if she would be spayed, coz G wanted a litter of chihuahuas. But she’s going for another round of checkups, and might be spayed.

Otherwise, I think it would be quite cute to have baby chihhuahuas around. >_<

吵醒,吓醒,非自然醒

Woke up at 4am today coz Caramel was crying again. The same sounds I heard on Sunday, not his usual whining cries. He was at the legs area, so gotta get him to the pillows to hug him and make him stop crying. Seriously, I think he saw something, coz if he was bored he would have gone to his house to get his toys and played with it instead of crying.

Anyway, I tried hard to go back to sleep, but couldn’t until an hour later coz I was wide awake by then I managed to coax him to sleep.

The next thing I realised when I woke up. Quarter to 8am. OMG. LAAAAAATEEE!!!!

Was still blur when I rushed to get ready. Really still half asleep. Thankfully the traffic was good and all I was was 5 mins late.

I hope Caramel won’t cry again tonite.

——–

G’s going to Redang tmrw with JH and SS. I so wanted to go but can’t, coz I’ve got the 7th month dinner, the last one. Because the restaurant we used to hold it closed down this Feb, and my uncle and other uncles are all getting on age, so it’s sometimes quite tedious for them to coordinate and arrange things every year. So I needed to go (I’ve never missed it actually), though it will be held at my old residence’s car park.

Also my leave allocation is not allowing me to go. I needed to have some leave left coz of the year end dive trip in planning. Maybe have to take unpaid so I thought better left some paid leave so it’s easier to take unpaid leave. Also, a lot of us always take leave in Dec which boss sometimes doesn’t feel pleased if half the office strength is gone.

And to top that, it is the last voyage that Star Cruises is going to Redang. No more next time.

I’ve not been there before. :(

I hate making such decisions.

Crying for…

Today is just such a wet Sunday that it’s best to stay out of it. So all I did was to nua today. Anyway, I slept late last nite past 3am.

I have no idea why Caramel was crying just now. He was quite happy after I showered him. Then it’s time to leave so he was left in the toilet. I left something behind and went to take it, and heard him crying. Maybe he knew we were going out and he was left behind. Moreover, he didn’t go out for his usual romp coz it was pouring for the whole day.

Humans need to sleep at night to recharge. Dogs, especially ones that are left alone at home all day would spend most of the time sleeping. When nighttime comes, the dog is wide awake…and very bored. The dog is crying to get your attention. The dog wants someone to play with.

Source: Hub Pages

Maybe…he saw something which I couldn’t see. Coz I have not heard him cry like that before.
