Something good came out of it after all

Gone to a doctor visit just now. Happy thing is, my blood test report returned well within the range for both the Thyroxine Free and TSH readings. Yay.

Been long since I’ve not gotten good readings. Usually one will fall out of normal range.

This morning, really suay. 11.11. My problems came one after another. Spent the whole morning solving problems. I thought there would be another problem to make up the last ‘number 1′ of the date today. Thankfully the report came out good.

Just when I was taking my blood test, another lady came in with a queue number in front of me, asking how come she was not called for the blood test. It turns out that she touched the wrong button during registration. The options were there for consultation, blood test, X-ray, or a combination of 2 of the mentioned. She actually touched the option on X-ray and not blood test. Of coz she didn’t get her queue number called at the blood test area.

She is not a Chinese, and the lady who took the blood from me told me that there are some people who would actually be over-sensitive, claiming that she is racist and let the Chinese take the blood test first.

Like that also have. :(

Today’s consultation was quite interesting actually. There was a little girl (she looked like she’s just early secondary or even younger) attached to my doctor. She sat there, listening to all that the doctor say, and she even touched my neck to feel how it is. All these of coz with my permission, from the time I went in to the time of touching my neck.

I was quite surprised that they have such youngsters from schools who would be attached to doctors. Is there such a programme now? Anyone who knows pls enlighten me.

Oh, I can ask my sister…

I was supposed to take my height and weight too. I was amazed how come I was taller (over 1.7m) over at their machine, before realising 5 seconds later that I was wearing my heels to take my height. A bit blur. Hehe.

Hopefully, my illness can be under good control. It’s a good start.

On (L)ea(V)e, singles and dogs

The previous post is password protected coz it is being treated as a police case and so I think it shouldn’t be made public, except for those who used to be colleagues with me.

Regarding my office being broken into last nite, which you might have known if you had followed me on twitter.

Tmrw’s gonna be a busy day for me. Will be on half day leave to go see doctor and before that a blood test. Seems like I can only grab a light snack to have time to do it (actually thought to skip lunch but I might just faint after they take my blood if I dun eat  )

Then I’ll rush for a facial appointment which I brought forward from Thu coz I need to pick G up from the airport. He decided to return 2 days earlier!

Fully utilise my leave.

Just came to know from Cruz’s tweet that November 11 is also known as Singles Day

Like that also have?

And why do they eat youtiao (flour fritters)? Coz it’s 2 pcs bound together like number 11, and the binding is supposed to be something auspicious?

My guess only, but it’s got a point in there too, ain’t it?

If I happen to be right, does that mean that for it to become really auspicious, you shouldn’t tear apart the youtiao (if you happen to 应节 and eat one tomorrow) and instead should gobble the whole thing down?

Probably we should also start singing The Spice Gals’ song, Two Become One~~~

Oh, I think my LV bag should be in Singapore since last weekend. So probably I’ll be able to get it on Thu nite or Friday.

Woot woot woot! My first ever investment ever. A bit too late but better than never. :)

I think when Caramel and Cinnamon returns home, my dad would be so bored. My mum won’t need to cook dinner twice – one for dogs and one for humans (like us). They will miss the action at home, the barking, and their welcome at the door.

My dad will start repeating how clever and adorable they are, and then start missing them again. And both pooches might just not get used to not sleeping on the mattress anymore.

End of holiday and chalet soon.

The troublesome little missy, and dinner @ Safra

Argh. My laptop battery is giving me problems again. Now I gotta stay connected to a power source else the laptop will shut down.

Brought Cinnamon for the first time to my mum’s office. As usual, she left a puddle of pee just right near to a wetsuit. Nice try. Thank goodness she didn’t think the suit was a pee pad.

And then I leashed her up. Since she couldn’t walk around, she thought she would find a comfortable place to lie down on.

Under the table in the middle of all the neoprene rolls.

Went for a wedding dinner at Safra Jurong last nite. Before this dinner, I didn’t even realise that there is one Safra near Jurong Point. But that place is packed. Carpark was full when I got there.

As usual, we Chinese have very bad time management when it comes to wedding dinners. Until 8.30pm before the dinner starts.

Nothing much memorable, just the restaurant staff as emcee, then the usual march in and montages.

It was very funny when they got to our table. I guessed we just wanted a simple cheer, but then it ended up the groom starting to shout Yum Seng then we follow suit at our table. Liddat also can?

The whole nite, it was conducted in Mandarin all the way. Didn’t really have anyone translating into English for non-Chinese people who attended the wedding. Except the speech done by the groom.

Slightly too noisy, coz both sides there were some functions going on and as you know, dividers can’t totally mute out the sounds.

It was just meant to be a dinner for their frens in Singapore.

Ermm…do I sound critical like that?

New debit card, shopping and Standing Sushi Bar

It was an eventful day. I was practically out of office the whole day.

I went to the bank to drop some cheques for the CEO. Though he is a Privilege Banking member, I can’t join the Priority Q. :(

Apparently, it’s supposed to be for personal banking only. And since he issued the cheques to some corporate account, it’s not included in the Privilege Banking service.

Anyway, I was let into something interesting also. UOB is going to launch the new debit card by next week, where the card can be used as a cashcard, ezylink, ATM, tap-to-pay and debit card. My debit card is due to expire this Dec, and I was actually invited to sign up for some gold card. But the CSO told me not to sign for that but to sign for this new platinum card. The ezylink and cashcard actually had a separate account, and requires top up manually. So even if the card is lost, it does not mean unlimited usage by whoever who picks up. There will still be a cap.

Interesting. I think I will take it up. Moreover, I do not have an ATM card anymore (it spoilt donkey years ago) and so I need another new one by its expiry end of this year.

With barely time to rest, I headed down to Orchard in the rain.

Chose a few ties, and got 3 lady-style pens from Mikimoto.

Only had lunch at 3pm+. By then I kinda lost my appetite.

Few hours later, I headed down to CBD. For what?

Standing sushi bar!

Picture 2

We were late due to the accidents and meetings and such. However, dinner was very enjoyable. We kind of were the first one there, and thought how come it was so empty.

Minutes later, the full force came and filled the place.

Icybabe and me had some food to taste while waiting for the Paradizer to arrive.

Miso soup, salmon skin handrolls for starters.

Both very good. Yumz.

Then we ordered sake toro nigiri, inari gunkan, mekajiki nigiri.

Then sake toro and sake sashimi.

Finally we had sake toro aburi style. That was the ultimate dish of last nite.

First we must put the whole thing in the mouth, within seconds after it’s served. At least enough time to let the Paradizer snap a photo of it.

Splendid. I think that was an understatement actually.

Here’s what we had. Part of it.

A bit of here and there

Feeling a bit sick now. Headache.

Kept staying back late for god-knows-what-reason at work. And sleeping really late at nite.

Tomorrow will be going to Standing Sushi Bar for dinner. Supposed to be birthday dinner gathering with the Paradizer and Icybabe. We decided to try the ala carte menu first before we try the omakase (next time).

G says he should be going to LV today. Yay! The excitement somehow died down a bit at this moment but there will be excitement there if I see the bag itself. Haha.

Was trying to book the air tickets for the Dec diving, when I realised that the return flight does not connect till home. It was a good thing coz I had logged in to check the cost several times before but didn’t get down to book it coz something will always hold me back. I didn’t notice that they actually took out one flight on the return date and pushed the later flight up to depart earlier. Until today. And the bad thing is, Air Asia didn’t inform my other friends who had booked the flights earlier on. So I kinda ’saved’ them from only realising it at the last minute.

Cinnamon is a bit of a handful these 2 days. She sunk the 2nd piece of mat at my place today. She went to the toilet to pee (which was clever of her) but she also pee-ed on the toilet mat. I wonder why she doesn’t pee on her own pee pad though. Even last nite, she pee-ed just outside her pee pad in my bedroom.

I think she really pees a lot. She did pee in the grass patch last nite actually. But I think it’s also she’s drinking a lot of water. Much more than Caramel.

This morning I passed by the horrible accident that happened around Clementi Loop. By the time I heard about the accident, I had no other way to divert to, so had to endure the long queue to Clementi. The 3-lane road was left with only one lane, and even that was not a straight road to go faster. The leftest 2 lanes were closed, and after which, had to zig zag past the accident site coz a patrol bike was on the 1st lane this time.

I saw the guy died with his shoe in a distance. Similar to the accident scene I saw several months ago, the one that involved the taxi that skidded and hit the divider in the wee morning hours.

Sad.

Not sleeping, yet not sleepless

It’s going to be 1am, and I am still not sleeping.

Didn’t sleep well last nite even. I brought the dogs home here coz G is away for 2 weeks. And Cinnamon was not too used to my place. But today everything went fine.

She had a bad tummy, so was shitting at unusual places. She was lying on the mattress sleeping, then suddenly woke up to wander to my kitchen.

I went there to see what made her go there, and realised she poo-ed at a corner.

Such a clever little bugger.

After that, she was pretty nervous and didn’t go to sleep immediately. I kept hearing her tinkle and so had to try hard to lull myself to sleep while Caramel was looking over from my bed to check out what she was doing.

Today, she got used to my place already. Except she kept barking at my neighbours because she didn’t know them.

And she’s also starting to pee at grass patches. Though she still has a mind of her own and kept braking halfway thru her walk.

Slowly, but surely.

Actually felt like getting sick. I kept waking up with runny nose and itchy throat. But it didn’t get serious enough to get proper medical attention. And so I hovered between sick and not sick.

Hmm…starting to get tired now. Gotta log off this abruptly.

Will blog again tomorrow.

Early meeting, more Crocs and the homecoming…soon

This morning I had to wake up early supposedly to meet a customer who came from Durban. Was supposed to meet him in office yesterday afternoon but he was held up (and also too lazy to drop by away from town), so we met today instead.

The appointment was at 8.30am, but when I sms and called him at 8am and 8.15am respectively, no answer.

:(

Luckily I didn’t go out yet, but he finally called me at 8.30am and told me he has just woke up. So we ended up meeting at 10am.

I always have a habit to call before I go over to meet an overseas customer, coz usually of the time difference they might end up jet lagging and cannot wake up in time.

I asked what his programme for the day, and luckily he is same as me. He doesn’t really like to go lunch, dinner, whenever he is overseas. Prefer some me-time.

After the meeting I dropped by Bugis to get lunch. And I deserve a pat! Coz I didn’t do shopping, though I did go into Charles & Keith and Pedro to sneak a look at their shoes.

——–

I went by the Crocs sale yesterday again since I was to be at T3 to receive my sis and bro-in-law back home. Truly they were restocked and even extended their space a bit more. It was also good coz there was barely anyone there (except the crowd grew when I was looking thru what I could find again). and I got 2 more pairs. Even got a pair for my sis.

One to be used for my diving and the other, casual sandals.

Quite happy now. Hehe.

——–

So boring at work today. *yawn* Seems like people knows my mum is not around. Only 2 walk-ins in the morning and another to collect her clothes. Looks like it’s going to be going off earlier. Even Caramel looks lethargic now despite being like a mad dog in the morning. Sometimes I suspect he has a biological clock in him that tells him it’s Saturday. He will act mad in bed by running around early in the morning, like he’s crossing terrains and mountains.

On normal days, he will just act sian and refuse to acknowledge the fact that humans need to work and have to leave him alone at home. Don’t even look at you when you leave for work.

And I hope his gf will come soon. Apparently she went for spaying and the wound became unstitched. The temp rehomer claimed that the stitching was not done properly and the vet claimed that she bit off the stitches herself. So she’s got to be recuperating for another week…

I’ve already got her leash and collar ready. Looking forward to see her soon…

Flying in and out

Suddenly very bored.

My mum went off for her 10-day holiday early this morning. The way I see the elderly trying to make sure that they do not miss the flight, I was laughing too. They were worried that they might not be able to hear the alarm, they tried to fix up every alarm clock and handphone they could find at home. So I made an attempt to do up my alarm clock at 4.30am too. Just that Caramel isn’t here, else he’ll be the alarm clock to wait everyone up.

After I went back to sleep, I kept dreaming my mum coming back home coz she forgot something. Like at least twice.

Can’t help worrying, coz this time no one to help lug her bag and luggage around like we did in Taiwan.

Then my sis and bro-in-law coming in from Melbourne later. Duno why the flight details doesn’t show the correct time the plane will arrive at this time. The flight should have gone off at least 3 hrs ago.

Hmm…I think I will be going to the Crocs sale thing again, since it’s at T3.

Wrong date; travel made expensive

Oh, I think our Singapore calendar printed the wrong date of Deepavali, is it?

Well, not that it bothers me much, but just a matter of getting another off-in-lieu for my year end dive trip. I think the correct day falls on next week, right?

Just also thinking of those who thought it was supposed to be a long weekend in Nov and booked a trip, only to realise it will be just a normal weekend.

And I just saw this on Business Traveller Asia:

Costs of air fares and hotel rooms around the Asia-Pacific are set to rise next year, concludes the latest American Express Global Business Travel Forecast

Source: Business Traveller Asia

We have enjoyed a year of cheap fares and accommodation. Will it really be time to give back whatever we had taken for the year?

I got lunch sent to me yesterday.

Ok not practically sent to me, but bought for me without me asking for it.

Hehehe.

Accident and mistake

It rained heavily this morning. Eeeyyyerrr, I hate heavy rains in the morning. First, the getting-out-of-bed part is even harder than normal days. Then roads will be jam-packed with the already bad peak traffic.

Overheard on the radio that Gambas Avenue (or Road?) had a bad accident that happened and the whole road was closed coz all lanes were affected. Oh wow.

Other roads were just as jam packed. The whole of Singapore is just immobilised during rainy days.

One of the EPS says Accident after xxx. Avoid 1st lane. So I did and remained on the 2nd.

Reached the area, passed it, and even upon reaching my workplace, I didn’t see any accident on 1st lane leh.

Who is updating the status, wake up la!

I sms-ed AA about his op scheduled for today. He was so happy yesterday that he’ll be staying overnite at Hotel Gleneagles tonite after his op in the afternoon. Then 3 hours before the op, he sms me to say that he was supposed to do the op at Mt Alvernia and not Gleneagles.

His mom was screaming at him for the mistake. Dun ask me how he got the place wrong too, coz I absolutely duno why.

Luckily he didn’t realise the mistake until he got into the OT, otherwise I duno which part of him would be wrongly cut up.

I’ve got a sotong for a fren.

Sunburnt and fishing

It was good to go for fishing on Sunday. Except I had the worst sunburn I ever had in my life.

Despite 2 days passing, I am still red like a lobster. Everyday I had to put on quite a bit of powder and tinted moisturiser to hide the invisible sunglasses on my face. :(

Departed from Marina Country Club, and upon setting sight on the boat did I realise I over-estimated the size of the boat.

Anyway, we took off at 9am+.

We had to buy some live bait – prawns. Headed towards one of the kelongs to buy the bait at $35/kg.

It was cloudy initially, then turned into full blasts of sun rays. And that’s why I got sunburnt. :(

Our location

The boat man prepared the fishing rods. We just needed to buy live bait (prawns).

Petrol station!

Keeping the boat as near as possible to fill up the tank in front.

Waiting to fill up the tank

Simple but cool setup. The GPS even has got a fish sonar sensor so we would know where there are fishes underneath

My first fish (and only fish other than the other one that I released coz it was small) that turned its tummy on me

The first ‘fish’ (coral) that JH caught with mucus dripping….eeeeewwww.

Expensive fish! (ngor hur)

I was in the worst sunburnt condition I ever had, and even had invisible sunglasses till now. Bad mistake. I thought the hat could stop the sunrays but it was just too strong last Sunday. So now, I had to wear real glasses to divert attention to my invisible glasses.

I so <3 aloe vera now. :P

Days passing by

Received a sms this morning that my ex-lecturer’s mom just passed away last nite. Looking back his FB, realised that his mom was hospitalised earlier on.

My condolences….

Am on half day leave today. Needed to go to AH for the checkup and due to the odd timing of 3pm, had to go on leave. I brought a pair of shorts along actually, so that I can change into that and maybe go to Orchard to buy my sashimi *slurp* and do a spot of shopping, in my Crocs. :D

Am going for fishing the whole day on Sunday. 2nd instalment after the prawning session last Sunday. :) My mummy just asked me yesterday if I wanna go Batam on Sunday but I told her I’m booked for fishing. And then it started their fishing itch again, so they wanna go rent a yacht and do it again soon.

I wonder if Caramel can be brought onboard on Sunday?

I am hungry now…saw a customer’s surname – Lay, and it makes me have a craving for Lay’s Potato Chips. Oh noes.

The other day, I saw something sticking out from a car’s undercarriage. From far, it looked like a glove, then with the car moving and it flapping, it looked like it was waving at me. And I start to imagine someone being locked in the boot, and that the gloved hand was left outside dangling (of coz, if it had been snapped shut it would have caused a broken wrist) and it was calling out for me for help.

On closer look, it looked like some feathery/rope thing.

Chey~

Oh, yesterday I was damn pissed coz someone borrowed my CEO’s phone charger and didn’t bring it back until he was looking for it. so I told the secretary who took it for my director. turns out the director might have taken it away (out from the office). the worst thing is, the secretary left me alone to go and look for an alternative one (which was quite difficult coz of the stupid Nokia different sized chargers for different phones) without even offering to help. She just went back to her desk and continued with her work. I was in a panic coz the CEO kept asking for it and the only person I could see has it is the GM, but he was grumbling also coz his was almost fixed to the socket and a bit of hassle to take out and put back again. Nevertheless, he took it out grudgingly to lend it to my CEO.

And what else? The charger has still not come back to my CEO’s desk. And I have no blardy idea where it is now.

Damn idiot one leh. Borrow, then must return la. Must wait for people to ask before you will return meh?
